The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), along with three apex tribal Hohos — the Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, and Sümi Hoho — held a joint consultative meeting at the Ao Senden headquarters in Mokokchung on Thursday regarding the ongoing foothills road construction under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investments (SASCI) Scheme.

After much deliberation, the meeting unanimously adopted a set of three resolutions.

According to the resolutions, the NFHRCC and the apex Hohos, as resolved in 2013, unequivocally reaffirmed that no compensation will be paid to any individual, clan, or village in relation to foothills road constructions. In the event of a violation, the Hohos, along with the committee, shall take stern action against whoever may be responsible.

Secondly, all contractors or firms that have been awarded work orders for the construction of the foothills road under the SASCI scheme must sign an implementation agreement with the committee within three days of this publication, that is, on or before January 20, 2025. Failing to do so will result in the particular firm being barred from executing the work within the jurisdiction of the three Hohos.

It was further resolved that in the event of non-signing of the implementation agreement with the committee within the stipulated timeframe (on or before January 20, 2025), the Hohos, along with the NFHRCC, will press the concerned department to immediately cancel the work order and issue new work orders to deserving firms to ensure the success of this historic road project.

It was also made clear that the working season is running out. Therefore, in the event of any unfortunate situation occurring, the defaulting firms or contractors will be held accountable to the Naga public.

The resolutions were signed by NFHRCC Convenor Supu Jamir, Co-Convenor Hokiye Yepthomi, Secretary W Lemba Chang, and Assistant General Secretary Chenithung Humtsoe.
