The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Mokokchung informed that as per the IMA’s instructions, doctors across the country are to wear black badges or black armbands on August 16, 2024, as a symbol of protest. In addition, a 12-hour solidarity strike will be observed on August 17, 2024, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The doctors in Mokokchung District have decided to join this strike, in line with their counterparts across the nation. However, the CMO clarified that emergency services in hospitals will be exempt from the strike, ensuring that critical care will remain unaffected.
Private Doctors in Nagaland to Join Nationwide Strike on August 17
The Nagaland Private Doctor Association (NPDA) has announced that private doctors practicing modern medicine across the state will join the nationwide 12-hour solidarity strike on August 17, 2024. The strike, which will run from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, is being held in response to directives from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) following the incident at R.G. Kar Medical College on August 9, 2024.
In a statement, the NPDA requested that all private doctors in Nagaland close non-essential health services, including Outpatient Departments (OPD) and elective surgeries, during the strike. However, essential and emergency services will continue to be available to ensure that critical care is not disrupted.
