The Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), led by Convener N Kitovi Zhimomi, has expressed “profound concern” regarding the recent incident involving Mr. Mughato Chophy, Finance Kilonser of NSCN (Reformation). The committee stated it is “set-aback of the view with the factors that contributed to the occurrence of the incident between the two parties NSCN (Khango) and NSCN (Reformation) groups,” especially at a time when “the whole Naga nation is looking forward for an early Naga solution while marching in peace in order to secure the future of our younger generation.”
The Working Committee voiced “disturbing concern regarding the steps taken by Mr. Mughato Chophy,” specifically questioning whether “his decision to file a First Information Report (FIR) at the Diphupar Police Station against the intrusion group, was driven by necessity or response.” The NNPGs described the action as “very much condemnable,” pointing out that “how a Revolutionary worker like Mr. Mughato Chophy who himself is a Kilonser has sought the intervention of the Local police” tarnishes “the spirit of the revolutionary patriots.”
The press release further stated that Mr. Chophy’s “strategy of dragging the level of the Naga issue from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the level of the Local police is controversial,” and went as far as to say he “has proved his ignorance as a Kilonser,” casting doubt on “his intention as a revolutionary worker” and suggesting “he is likely to be an undercover agent of our adversary.”
The NNPGs also highlighted the “self-identity of Mr. Mughato Chophy” as a “subject of public debate,” suggesting that he “should have pursued appropriate channels for addressing his grievances.” Instead, the committee said, “It would have been prudent for him to lodge his concerns with the Chairman of the Ceasefire Supervisory Board to initiate any necessary actions.”
On the larger context of the recent incident, the Working Committee clarified that it “has not yet stated the recent incident involving the NSCN (Reformation) and NSCN (Khango)” and that it is “yet to ascertain whether the recent action against one Mr, Mughato Chopy was re-action against his provocation.” The statement also noted that “a newly floated group which claims to be the NNPG, has made assertions,” but emphasized that the Working Committee “does not hold any comments or opinions concerning the internal operations of any organization at this juncture.”
