Chümoukedima, 17 February (MTNews): The Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games (NOPG) 2024 concluded on Saturday with Kohima district securing the Overall Champions title for the third consecutive time by amassing a total of 89 medals (35 Gold, 27 Silver, 27 Bronze).

Chümoukedima district emerged as the 1st runners-up in the Team Championship, boasting an impressive total of 83 medals (24 Gold, 28 Silver, 31 Bronze). Phek district secured the 2nd runners-up position in the Team Championship with a total of 64 medals (22 Gold, 18 Silver, 24 Bronze).

Neshe Maonyu Konyak, representing Peren district, won the Outstanding Sportswoman award. She won two Gold medals in the 100m women’s category and the 4x400m mixed relay, with a notable time of 13.89s in the 100m sprint. Outstanding Sportsman award went to Lhangti Konyak from Mon District who displayed exceptional prowess in Sepaktakraw.

In recognition of exemplary sportsmanship and fair play, Chümoukedima district was honored with the Olympic Fair Play Trophy, while Longleng district received the prestigious Spirit of Olympic Award. The Closing function was graced by the Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, and TR Zeliang, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland.

The NagalandOlympic Association conveyed congratulations to all the athletes, districts, and organizers for their outstanding contributions to the success of NOPG 2024.

Meanwhile, Mokokchung district finished ranked 7th with 26 medals (7 Gold, 7 Silver, 12 Bronze). This was a marked improvement from the last edition of the NOPG 2022 where it finished 12th with 15 medals. Mokokchung failed to win a single Gold medal in the previous edition while it won 5 Silver and 10 Bronze medals.
