Dimapur, February 19 (MTNews): The newly floated regional political party, North East Democratic Front (NEDF) launched its party manifesto on Saturday. A press release from the NEDF received here stated that the party manifesto is based on the party motto “Power to the People” emphasizing on justice, unity, progress and development.
The objectives of the party is to sustain the private sector-led economic growth sectors; to provide, reactivate, rehabilitate and maintain infrastructure; to employ measures to uplift the economy and generate employment; to encourage the establishment of small-scale, micro and cottage industries in rural areas; to strengthen women’s societies to make them more effective in the process of ensuring the empowerment of women; and sustainable agriculture especially in the rural areas.
The manifesto was launched by party president Lima Longkumer and executive members in the presence of delegates from Assam and Meghalaya units of the party.
NEDF has not fielded its own party candidates for the ensuing elections to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly but it is supporting six Independent candidates in Nagaland and three in Meghalaya.
