Dimapur, 8 December (MTNews): The Northeast Mahila Morcha Zonal Meeting got underway at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur with the National Mahila Morcha President Vanathi Srinivasan as Chief Guest.
The Northeast Zonal Meet was also attended by Mahila delegates from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, Sikkim along with BJP Mahila Karyakartas from Nagaland, ST Morcha, Kisan Morcha, Dimapur District BJP and Yuva Morcha and Dimapur District Mahila, Minority Morcha, OBC and State Officials.
The 1st Session was addressed by Sumitra G Lalu, National Co-Incharge on ‘NGOs Connect’, Aienla Jamir, National Co-Incharge for ‘Transgender Connect’, Banani Sharma, National Co-Incharge on ‘Women Writers Connect’,and Sreerupamitra, National Co-Incharge on ‘SHGs Connect’.
In her address, the National Mahila President Vanathi Srinivasan appreciated the State Mahila Morcha for the warm reception and for hosting the Northeast Mahila Morcha Zonal Meet. She emphasized on the pro-women policies undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government where women were brought to the forefront of political discourse and key decision making bodies. Also, the welfare schemes such as the Ujjwala Yojana that has made significant contributions towards LPG Connection, toilet construction and providing clean drinking water to 10 crores of Indian women, the Ayushman Bharat Health Card and many other schemes that have immensely benefited the women in the Country. She further stated that the passing of the 33% Reservation for Women in both the houses of parliament is historic and is a clear indication that the BJP Government at the centre is a political party that gives due importance and space to women of the country.
The 2nd Session was attended by Er. Kropol Vitsu, Advisor and State Vice President of BJP Nagaland as Special Invitee. The National Mahila President will hold an interactive session with the women NG0s, SHGs, women journalists and reporters based in Dimapur.
