In a significant development for aspiring footballers in the state, NorthEast United FC (NEUFC), in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), will conduct scouting trials in Nagaland from May 6 to 9. The trials aim to select players for the club’s Under-17 and reserve teams.
According to an official announcement, the trials will be held across two venues. Sessions are scheduled for May 6 and 7 at the Government Higher Secondary School Ground in Dimapur, followed by May 8 and 9 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima.
The initiative forms part of NEUFC’s broader scouting campaign across the Northeast under the banner “Unearthing the Next Highlanders.” The club, which represents the eight northeastern states in the Indian Super League, aims to identify emerging talent and provide a pathway into professional football.
Eligible players, particularly in the U-17 age group or those with potential for the reserve team, have been encouraged to participate. Participants are required to carry valid age proof documents and appropriate playing gear.
Club officials stated that the trials are a key component of their grassroots development strategy and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening football in the region. (Source: SportsLIVE Nagaland)
