The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, urging party workers to remain vigilant and ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral process.

NPCC Working President Apok Jamir, AICC Observer Puran Chand Padhi and Congress leaders and workers during the “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” campaign meeting in Tuensang.

The concerns were raised during a “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” campaign meeting organised by the NPCC at District Bhavan, Tuensang, attended by Congress office bearers and workers from Tuensang, Noklak and Longleng districts.

Addressing the gathering, NPCC Working President Apok Jamir said the campaign was being undertaken across the country to raise concerns over alleged irregularities in electoral roll revision.

He said the visit of AICC Observer Puran Chand Padhi to Nagaland was part of the party’s efforts to create awareness and address concerns surrounding the SIR exercise.

Jamir claimed that nearly 50 per cent of votes had been deleted even in Delhi and urged Congress workers to carefully recheck electoral rolls in their respective areas to safeguard every genuine vote.

AICC Observer Puran Chand Padhi, in his address, expressed concern over what he described as the increasing centralisation of the SIR exercise. He alleged that the process was being used to delete the names of voters who did not support the BJP, raising questions about the impartiality and transparency of electoral roll revision.

Emphasising the importance of voting rights, Padhi called upon Congress workers to reach out to every corner of their respective constituencies, carefully verify electoral rolls and identify eligible voters whose names might have been deleted.

He stressed that every genuine voter must be protected and that no eligible citizen should be deprived of the opportunity to exercise their democratic right.

The meeting was also attended by NPCC Vice-President W Akum, Chairman of Media and Publicity Andrew Humtsoe, and Chairman of Social Media and Digital Platform Kumjimong, among other party functionaries.

The meeting concluded with a call for greater grassroots coordination and vigilance in safeguarding the voting rights of eligible citizens.
