The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Mokokchung Division has initiated a beautification project at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, focusing on enhancing the rostrum area with flower stands and plants. The initiative was made possible using funds from the Common Pool of the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) Fund.
Tangit Imsong, President of the NPF Mokokchung Division, stated that the effort was made possible through the benevolence of Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker and Chairman of the District Planning Board, Mokokchung, in the spirit of an opposition-less government. Highlighting the importance of Imkongmeren Sports Complex as a key venue for major events such as Republic Day, Independence Day, district-level sports events, and the Mokokchung Festival, Imsong said the lack of beautification at the site had been a concern.
“This time, we decided to focus on giving the complex a touch of beauty and improving its overall appearance. Even small steps can make a difference, and though this initiative comes late, it is better late than never,” Imsong stated.
He expressed hope that the citizens would safeguard the newly added features and maintain the cleanliness and aesthetics of the complex. “We look forward to seeing the people of Mokokchung take responsibility for preserving the beautification efforts,” he added.
