Mokokchung, 20 March (MTNews): Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has declared Kachui Timothy Zimik as its candidate for the II-Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
Zimik, a retired Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, will succeed the current NPF parliamentarian, Dr Lorho S Pfoze, marking a significant transition for the party.

The decision was reached during a crucial meeting of the NPF’s Central Working Committee (CWC) on Wednesday. Zimik, aged 62, will formally receive the party ticket at a ceremony scheduled for Thursday at the party’s central office in Kohima.

Nagaland MLA and NPF secretary general, Achumbemo Kikon, had earlier confirmed that the party received applications from four individuals, including the incumbent MP, expressing interest in the NPF ticket for the Outer Manipur seat.

In a bid to ensure impartial selection process, the party established a Search Committee tasked with identifying the most suitable candidate to represent the constituency in the Lok Sabha polls.

Zimik is a retired Indian Revenue Service officer who served as the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ministry of Finance (Revenue). Manipur has two Parliamentary Constituencies. Voting for the inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will be held on 19 April while the outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will go to polls on 26 April. Counting for both the seats will be held on 4 June.
