Mokokchung, February 23 (MTNews): The NPP Mokokchung District Unit has alleged breach of the ECI Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by some of the police personnel who were involved in open show of support and active conduct of campaigning in favour of an opponent party’s candidate at the 22 Arkakong Assembly Constituency under Mokokchung District.

NPP said that the public of the constituency has enough evidence to prove the direct involvement of around 20 police personnel in civil dress who were taking open and active part in campaigning in favour of their opponent party’s candidate. NPP also claimed that there is also enough evidence to prove the involvement of high ranking police officers who are deliberately posting and deputing the police personnel according to their personal whims so that the chances are made favourable for the candidates whom they support and in order to sabotage the efforts of the other parties.

Accordingly, NPP Mokokchung District Unit has requested concerned authorities including the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland and the Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland to immediately initiate a thorough investigation and take necessary action against the erring police personnel.

“We further call upon all right thinking citizens to join our party in condemning such unconstitutional and uncivilized actions and commit ourselves in making the election process a healthy, peaceful and democratic one,” NPP Mokokchung District Unit president Tsuknung Jamir said.
