Phek, October 16 (MTNews): In relation to the public notification that was published in the dailies on 15th October 2022 regarding some of the NPP members from Phek District Unit joining the NDPP, NPP Phek District has clarified that the members who have joined the other party were already involved in anti-party activities and that these members were anyhow going to be penalized for their anti-party activities.

A press release issued by NPP Phek District vice president Neikotsolo Lasuh and NPP 17 Chizami A/C president Veshelie Dzudo said that, “However, sensing the impending action, they immediately joined the other party in order to save their reputation and to glorify themselves. Moreover, these erring members belonged only to the Chizami Assembly Constituency Unit of NPP and therefore they do not in any way reflect the Phek District Unit as a whole.”

They also claimed that NPP Phek Unit is growing from strength to strength and already prominent leaders have approached their party for contesting the upcoming elections. “Therefore, we are least bothered or affected by such unscrupulous elements who have selfish agendas to malign the name and honor of the party,” they said.

“These errant members who have left the party for good were mainly motivated by monetary gain over self-respect and they were working at the behest of some conniving individuals who were trying their best to incite them to leave the party in search of greener pastures. While trying to do this, they had even taken an anti-constitutional signature campaign during which some of the members’ names were put in the list without their consent. They also forged the signatures of some of the members just to create an impression that many members had left the party,” the press release stated.

“While it is true that there is no permanent friend or foe in politics, one must be driven by ethics while joining any party and should be loyal to the party’s ideology in both good as well as bad times. However, such members have proven that they have no particular alignment to any ideology or party discipline and they can change their loyalties anytime,” they said, and then asked, “Where then is the guarantee that these selfish individuals will not change their loyalties in the future?”

“Such opportunists bring disrepute to the party or organization to which they belong and shame and dishonour upon themselves and their community. These kinds of people have no integrity or sincerity and therefore all right thinking citizens must be cautious of such selfish individuals,” they cautioned.

NPP Phek District Unit also condemned the “insincere and back-stabbing act of the corrupt members of our party from NPP 17 Chizami A/C Unit” and called upon all members of the party to remain united and stand up against “such vested individuals so that our party’s pristine ideology and ethics is never compromised.”

NPP Phek District also declared that they will continue to remain united and work for the progress and glory of the party under the leadership and guidance of State President, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema and National President, Conrad K. Sangma and all other national and state leaders.
