Mokokchung, 12 August (MTNews): In tune with the celebration of International Youth Day 2023, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society / DAPCU Mokokchung District organized and conducted Youth Fest: Marathon Race tagged ‘Red Run’ on Saturday, 12 August.
Flagging off the marathon race, Dr Kibangkumba, Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung addressed the participants to re-commit to end HIV by 2030 as WHO envisions, spreading the underlying message of equality and avoidance of stigma that is tagged with HIV-AIDS. The CMO also urged the participants to lead a healthy lifestyle.
A total of 23 participants including 8 female and 15 male athletes from Jubilee Memorial College, People’s College, Fazl Ali College and ICIT Mokokchung participated in the marathon race. Sangtsoi P of Fazl Ali College won the race in the men’s category with Ringsinei Richard of ICIT and Koi Shiu K of Fazl Ali College as 2nd and 3rd position winners respectively.
In Women’s category, Sungtiyala C Imchen of Jubilee Memorial College won the first place while Jongliu E of Fazl Ali College and Muthsoi of Fazl Ali College won the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) informed that on International Youth Day, district level Marathon Race ‘Red Run’ under ‘Youth Fest’ was organized in 12 districts of Nagaland. A total of 519 Red Ribbon Club (RRC) members took part in this event, with 299 males and 220 females participating from 58 colleges and schools across the state.
