The ceasefire committee of the NSCN-K (Ang Mai), led by U Chin Maung, held talks with Myanmar’s Union-level National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) in Naypyidaw on July 31.
The meeting was held at the Mingalar Thiri Hotel, where both sides discussed issues related to peace, development and stability in Naga-inhabited areas, along with other matters of mutual importance.
“During the meeting, both sides discussed matters relating to peace, development, and stability in the Naga areas, along with other importance issues,” the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) said in an update.
The NSPNC delegation was headed by its Chairman Lt Gen Yar Pyae. During the meeting, Yar Pyae expressed the hope that the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) would “prioritize peace implementation in the Naga region and focus on overall regional stability and tranquility.”
Following the meeting, the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) ceasefire committee returned to Khamti, where the delegation received a warm welcome from Naga civil society leaders of Khamti and Lahe upon their arrival at Khamti Airport on August 4.
The engagement comes as part of ongoing efforts involving various Naga groups and Myanmar authorities towards dialogue on peace and stability in Naga areas under Myanmar’s administration.
