The GPRN/NSCN-U (Alezo) has issued a statement regarding the September 19 incident in Vihokhu Village. The organization clarified that certain Naga Army personnel were deployed to summon Hokivi Awomi, a resident of the village, concerning allegations of financial misconduct related to a lending and borrowing case.

According to the NSCN-U (Alezo), Awomi, an active member of the organization, acted as a mediator in a financial transaction where he received Rs 7,60,000 from a borrower. However, the funds were reportedly never handed over to the lender.

After a complaint was filed, an agreement was established on April 3, 2024, in which Awomi voluntarily committed to returning the amount by July 20, 2024. A reminder was issued on July 18, but despite multiple attempts to approach Hokivi to clear the debt, according to NSCN-U (Alezo), he remained absconding and eventually defected to another faction.

However, on the intervention of Vihokhu Village Council and subsequent assurance by the village authority, the Naga Army having due respect to the village authority left the matter in the best wisdom of the Village for further course of action.
