Mokokchung, January 30 (MTNews): The NSCN (IM) on Monday expressed regret over the January 27 incident that occurred at a place near its General Field Training Headquarters (GFTHq) between the Assam Rifles and the group.
Stating that the incident happened as the 25th Assam Rifles came “too close for comfort breaching one km radius,” the NSCN(IM) said in a press release that the matter was, however, settled amicably keeping in mind the interest of the prevailing ceasefire.
The NSCN(IM) said that there was no snatching of weapons by both sides and mutually agreed to part ways peacefully with handshakes.
“The NSCN regrets that whoever had taken the video clips of the incident and uploaded in the social media is done without the knowledge or sanction of the NSCN authority or Naga Army,” it said.
Expressing regret at the uploading of the videos in the social media, it said, “the NSCN and Naga Army tender apology on behalf of the erring persons who had uploaded in the social media.”
Stating that it is committed to the ceasefire signed in 1997, the NSCN(IM) said it hopes that such unfortunate incidents never reoccur again in the days to come by respecting the spirit of ceasefire ground rules “by both the Naga Army and the Indian Armed Forces.”
