The Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM) under the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) launched the NSEDM Japanese Language Centre during the observance of World Youth Skills Day 2026 at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, with the aim of enhancing the global employability of Naga youth.
Addressing the programme, Advisor for Higher Education and Technical Education Temjenmenba urged young people to embrace skill development and entrepreneurship to remain competitive in a rapidly changing global economy. He said government jobs alone could not absorb the growing number of educated youth and encouraged them to explore opportunities in entrepreneurship and the private sector.
He also stressed the importance of acquiring practical skills and adapting to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Referring to the newly launched Japanese Language Centre, he said it would create pathways for overseas employment and strengthen the employability of Naga youth.
Additional Secretary and Project Manager of NSEDM, IDAN, Vineet Kumar, IAS, said skill development and entrepreneurship would play a crucial role in shaping Nagaland’s future. “With limited government employment opportunities, skill development has become essential for enabling youth to secure sustainable livelihoods through employment and entrepreneurship,” he said.
Kumar informed that since its establishment in October 2025, NSEDM has trained more than 3,500 youth, while around 800 trainees are currently enrolled in various programmes. He added that over 1,000 beneficiaries have either secured employment or become self-employed through the Mission.
He said the Japanese Language Centre would prepare youth for employment opportunities in Japan and other international markets, while also highlighting the growing partnership between Nagaland and Japan. During the programme, 15 youth achievers were felicitated for their accomplishments in skill development and entrepreneurship. Under Secretary and Project Lead, NSEDM, IDAN, Meripeni delivered the vote of thanks.
