The Shokhuvi Village Council (SVC) has clarified that the bomb blast reported on July 13 in Chümoukedima district did not occur within Shokhuvi Village, as stated in several media reports.
In a rejoinder issued on Wednesday, SVC Chairman H. Vekuto Swu said the incident had actually occurred within the jurisdiction of Chümoukedima A Village.
The Council urged media organisations that had identified Shokhuvi Village as the site of the blast to correct their reports at the earliest to prevent the spread of misinformation.
It also appealed to the public to take note of the correct location and refrain from circulating or relying on inaccurate information.
The Council said the clarification was being issued in the interest of truth, accuracy and public awareness.
