The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has appealed to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland to initiate urgent measures for the safe return of Naga students and professionals caught in the ongoing Indo-Pakistan conflict zone.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the NSF stated that “due to the simmering tension between India and Pakistan and a war-like situation developing between the two countries, a number of Naga students and working professionals residing in the states are severely affected by the conflict, thereby throwing their lives into a disarray.” The NSF noted that “the closure of airports has only exacerbated the issue.”
The Federation informed that it has been receiving distress calls from those affected. “These individuals have been reaching out to the office of NSF to work out means in order to secure their safe return to the state,” it stated.
Appealing for swift government intervention, the NSF urged the state administration to “put mechanism in place which will ensure the safety of these citizens and also take up measures for their swift return to the state.”
The letter concluded with a call for urgency: “A swift and affirmative action towards this end will be highly appreciated.”
