The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has applauded the Government of Nagaland for firmly safeguarding MBBS seats from the central pool, ensuring that these reserved positions are available exclusively to indigenous Naga students. The Federation said the move reflects the government’s commitment to protecting the educational opportunities and future aspirations of the state’s indigenous population.
According to NSF, only the indigenous people of Nagaland and Nagas by blood should be entitled to benefit from the quota system. The Federation cautioned against any attempts by non-Nagas to claim these seats, noting that such actions compromise the rights of deserving students and undermine the special protections guaranteed to the state.
The Federation further urged the government to strengthen verification mechanisms, streamline eligibility criteria, and institute clear safeguards to prevent ambiguity and ensure the integrity of the quota system. NSF assured the government of its continued support in all efforts aimed at defending and preserving the rights of the indigenous Naga community.
