Kohima, 16 September: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema, organised an Orientation-cum-Volunteer Registration programme on September 16 at the School of Engineering and Technology, Nagaland University.
NSS Programme Officer Shanchamo Yanthan briefed newly inducted volunteers on the objectives and activities of NSS, describing it as a student-oriented community service programme that connects higher education with society.
He said NSS seeks to develop students through voluntary service and social responsibility by encouraging them to understand community needs, work with people and learn through real-life experiences. “Not Me But You” is the guiding motto of NSS, placing the welfare of others before self.
The unit will undertake community outreach, awareness programmes, special camps, campus initiatives and student development activities from time to time.
The volunteers were also guided through the registration process on the My Bharat portal. A total of 91 volunteers participated in the programme.
The programme concluded with the volunteers taking part in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027 quiz, comprising 20 questions on general knowledge and national awareness.
