The Department of Education at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, partnered with the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) to host a one-day beekeeping training on August 7, 2025. This event aligned with the university’s skill development initiative, aiming to integrate practical, sustainable skills into higher education. The program targeted faculty, research scholars, and postgraduate students, fostering hands-on learning and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The inaugural session, chaired by research scholar Vanthungo Murry, began with a welcome address by Prof Lungsang Zeliang, Head of the Department of Education. She highlighted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing the need for education to incorporate life skills for sustainable livelihoods. Prof Venuh, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, and special guest, praised the program as a vital step in bridging academic knowledge with practical skills. He urged participants to view beekeeping as both a livelihood and a way to connect with nature, advocating for future research collaborations between NBHM and the university on bees and pollination.

Dr Limala, Associate Professor, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to NBHM for their dedication, the university administration for their support, and the Department of Education for their teamwork in ensuring the event’s success.
