Professor Sarat Chandra Yenisetti, who was arrested earlier for allegedly assaulting a female Assistant Professor from the Department of Zoology, is reportedly out on bail and has been seen on the university campus, according to the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF).

The professor is also accused of verbally abusing a group of master’s students during official working hours, allegedly using “vile, derogatory, and demeaning language.”

Speaking to the press, the NSF expressed concern over the professor’s presence at the Nagaland University (NU) campus in Lumami, despite his ongoing case. The student body revealed that it had met the Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University in February this year and demanded that, although Professor Yenisetti is out on bail, he should not be allowed on campus pending further action.

“Despite our meeting with the Vice Chancellor and our clear demand, the professor continues to be seen on campus,” the NSF stated, citing reports from students at NU Lumami.

The NSF condemned what it called the “inaction” of the university administration and said it had sent another representation to the Vice Chancellor, urging immediate steps to restrict the professor’s access to the campus.
