Nagaland University research scholar Vieneite-o Koza has received the Best Paper Presentation Award at the National Conference on “Agroforestry Assisted Natural Farming for Restoration of Agroecosystems (AANFRA-2025),” the University informed. The two-day national conference, held on 20 and 21 November at the Benhama-Watlar campus of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), brought together experts, policymakers and researchers to discuss the shift from input-intensive agriculture to regenerative and sustainable agroecosystems.

AANFRA-2025 featured eight technical sessions and more than 160 research presentations. Koza earned the top honour for her paper titled, “Effects of Season on Soil Microbial Biomass Carbon & Total Nitrogen in different Landuse in Phek district, Nagaland.” Her study offers valuable insights into soil microbial dynamics and their significance for soil health in the North-Eastern Himalayan region, an area where understanding ecological processes is essential for long-term agricultural resilience.
Koza is pursuing her PhD under the supervision of Dr Gyati Yam in the Department of Forestry, Nagaland University, Lumami Campus. The recognition highlights the growing research capacity of the University and its efforts to advance scientific understanding of the Northeast’s ecological systems.
