Nagaland University (NU) signed an MoU with IIT Guwahati on May 27, 2024. The MoU was signed by Prof Jagadish K Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, and Prof Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, in the presence of faculty and officers from both organizations. The MoU, signed at IIT Guwahati, envisages administrative and faculty support, internship and short-term training programs, and guidance in infrastructure development.
“The MoU is noteworthy in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes fostering partnerships and improving the quality of higher education in India. It signifies a step towards promoting academic exchange, research collaborations, and sharing of resources between the two institutions. Through such partnerships, NEP 2020 aims to enhance academic quality, promote interdisciplinary research, and facilitate the holistic development of students,” an update from the university said.
“Additionally, initiatives like this MoU reflect the NEP’s vision of creating a robust and integrated educational ecosystem that encourages innovation, diversity, and excellence. Such collaborations between universities and premier institutes play a crucial role in realizing the goals set forth by the NEP 2020 and advancing the educational landscape in India,” it added.
