A felicitation programme for Nuheymong Yimchunger, President of the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF), was held at his native Mimi Village on Tuesday, October 7.
Nuheymong is the first member of the Yimkhiung tribe to hold the post of ENSF President.
The event was organised by eight villages in the Mimi circle under Pungro sub-division.
Expressing gratitude to the people, Nuheymong said, “Becoming the president is the result of the people’s unceasing prayers, support, and dedication.”
He also stressed the importance of education and urged parents to prioritize it. The student leader highlighted the need for students to pursue academics seriously and compete in civil service examinations, citing the lack of government officials in the eight villages.
Apong, former president of the Mimi Students Union, said Nuheymong began his career as a student leader after being inducted as an executive in the Mimi Students’ Union in 2010. He added that the Eastern Naga students are now led by a capable and sincere leader, and Nuheymong’s precedent-setting achievements are worth emulating by present and future generations.
Advisor Mimi Circle Joint Council Azho Paul, President K/H Joint Council P. Kumtsu, Executive Chairman Yimkhiung Tribal Council Y. Makezho also addressed the gathering.
The Women’s Department of Mimi Village presented a special song. Pastor Thsankiu from KPF pronounced the invocation.
