At Yemshe festival, NSDMA Advisor urges younger generation to learn and develop Pochury dialect

Advisor to NSDMA and Inland Waterways Z Nyusietho Nyuthe has called on the Pochury community, particularly the younger generation, to make greater efforts to learn and develop the Pochury dialect and language, stressing that language is an important component of community identity.

Nyuthe calls for preservation of Pochury language, identity

Nyuthe made the appeal while addressing the Pochury Tribal Festival Yemshe at Lephori Village on October 3. He described Yemshe as the biggest festival of the Pochury Naga community and said the occasion should be used to strengthen unity, relationships and cultural identity.

He said Yemshe was also a time for prayer, introspection, forgiveness and reconciliation, urging the people to look within themselves, amend their ways and strengthen relationships for the common good.

Speaking on the diversity of the Pochury community, Nyuthe described Pochury as a “land of diversity”, saying that despite differences in various aspects, the people had continued to stand together as one, representing their collective identity.

Nyuthe also described the Pochury region as a “land of fortunes”, citing its abundant minerals and natural resources. He called upon the people to work diligently and make proper and responsible use of these resources for the development of the district.

He also appreciated Pochury gazetted officers for their sincerity and dedication in public service, stating that no complaint had been received against them, and urged them to continue rendering their best service wherever they were posted or assigned.

Nyuthe concluded by calling for continued unity, preservation of Pochury cultural and linguistic identity, responsible utilisation of natural resources and collective efforts towards the development of the community.
