The Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, addressed a gathering at Nagaland Police Complex, Chümoukedima, on April 1, 2025, to mark Odisha State Foundation Day.

Highlighting Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, he described it as a land of timeless temples, pristine beaches, and artistic excellence. He praised Odisha’s contributions to India’s legacy, citing the spiritual chants of Jagannath Sadak, the elegance of Odissi dance, the Konark Sun Temple, and Gotipua music.

“The Odia community in Nagaland has enriched our social and economic fabric with their hard work and integrity. You are family, and your stories are part of our shared history,” he said. He drew parallels between Odisha’s Rath Yatra and Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival, emphasizing their cultural significance.

Reaffirming Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, he encouraged cultural exchanges. The event featured speeches by Mhomo Tungoe, NCS Joint Secretary to the Governor, along with Dr. Rajesh Tanti, Kirtichandra Rout, and Rama Chandra Panda from Odia Samaj Nagaland. Traditional Odissi, Chhau, and Sambalpuri dance performances added vibrancy to the celebration.
