To,
The Honourable Chief Minister,
Government of Nagaland, Kohima.
Subject: Prayer to cover medical treatment expenses
incurred for outpatients.
Respected sir,
With due respect and humble submission, I have to state that since you are in charge of the CMHIS and finance portfolio, I am writing to you as a concerned Social Activist to bring to your immediate attention the challenging situation faced by outpatients for medical treatment under CMHIS. Earlier, before the launching of CMHIS in October, 2022, the medical reimbursement provided coverage for all patients with much benefits. As such, the present CMHIS should provide better facilities and benefits than before.
As cited above, CMHIS should also cover expenses incurred not only by inpatients admitted in a hospital but also by the outpatients. CMHIS should also allow all the tests conducted and medicine charges like before when treated outside the state. A whole coverage of medical expenses should be given, especially for those employees and pensioners against whom an amount of Rs. 400 is deducted every month since November, 2022 for medical allowance.
When we look at Bhutan, a small developing country, its medical healthcare system provides universal coverage by giving free healthcare services to all its citizens. Good health of its citizens is essential for progress and development of any country or state. As such, we can also take such progressive steps for the well-being of all.
I, therefore, request your honourable authority to kindly reconsider to provide coverage not only for inpatients but also for the outpatients under the present CMHIS as under the old system of medical reimbursement. Hoping for a positive outcome for the well-being of all the Nagas so that the CMHIS would benefit all without any distinction, difficulties and hindrances.
Sincerely,
Bendang Imsong
Mokokchung (Social Activist)
