The 25th Commencement Service of Oriental Theological College (OTC) was held on 15th April 2025 at Centre Baptist Church, Yangli, with notable announcements that promise to shape the future of theological education in Eastern Nagaland.

T Kirithong Sangtam, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BoD) of OTC, highlighted several key developments during his speech. One of the most significant announcements was the launch of the first-ever Master of Divinity (M.Div) program in Eastern Nagaland, which will begin in the academic year 2025–26. The inaugural batch of M.Div students will receive free admission as a special gesture.

Sangtam also shared the establishment of a fully digital library at OTC, which houses over 48,000 books, positioning the institution as one of the best-equipped libraries in the region. Additionally, he revealed that two new faculty members would be appointed by June 2025 to further strengthen the college’s academic team. He assured the gathering that OTC students will have equal rights and opportunities as those in any other college. The Board of Directors also extended their gratitude to all donors who have contributed to the growth of the institution.

The Commencement Address was delivered by Alem P. Sangtam, Associate Pastor of Sangtam Baptist Church, Dimapur. His address, “Higher Calling is a Holy Calling,” encouraged graduates to pursue their future endeavors with humility, obedience, faith, and courage. Drawing inspiration from the biblical story of Moses, Sangtam reminded the graduates that, like Moses, they too have received a higher calling from God, and the same divine guidance will accompany them in their journey.

Following the address, diplomas were conferred by C. Chemtingla Sangtam, Principal of OTC, and presented by L Hopichum, Academic Dean. The Academic Dean also honored outstanding students with awards for their achievements.

An Act of Dedication was led by Y Imtiba, Executive Secretary of USBLA, and the Graduating Class of 2025 sang a Song of Commitment, dedicating themselves to serving God and others. The program concluded with a closing prayer by Throngethsing, Youth Secretary of USBLA.

In a special post-ceremony event, Y Imtiba dedicated the newly completed second floor of the OTC Girls’ Hostel, which will significantly improve the living conditions for female students.

The 25th Commencement Service of OTC not only celebrated the hard work and dedication of the graduating class but also marked a historic moment in the evolution of theological education in Eastern Nagaland.
