During his address at the 76th Republic Day celebrations in Mokokchung, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton highlighted the significant progress made under various health and welfare schemes in Nagaland.

During his speech, Patton provided updates on the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme, launched in October 2022, which has gained momentum. He shared that 65 hospitals, both within and outside the state, have been empaneled under CMHIS. As of FY 2024-25, the scheme has benefitted 10,317 individuals, facilitating 14,670 treatments worth Rs 59.77 crore.

He also detailed the success of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), with 76 hospitals empaneled in Nagaland. Under this scheme, 21,415 individuals have been covered, with 26,559 treatments conducted, amounting to Rs 49.13 crore during the same period. Patton also acknowledged the ongoing efforts under the Chief Minister’s Universal Life Insurance Scheme (CMLIS), which received a Rs 15 crore allocation in the budget. So far, 13 families have availed themselves of insurance benefits, with the scheme continuing to support families in need.

In addition, he mentioned the regular conduct of the Ayushman Arogya Shivir, a monthly Health Mela, which has reached 17,480 individuals by November 2024. A total of 669 health melas have been held, providing a vital platform for healthcare access in communities across the state.

The Deputy Chief Minister also spoke about the Department of Health and Family Welfare’s role in addressing tuberculosis, a pressing public health concern. At a campaign organized under the Prime Minister TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan on December 3, 2024, Patton discussed the efforts to support TB patients through the Nikshay Mitra initiative.

With 387 registered donors, over 1,000 TB patients are receiving nutritional support in the form of monthly food baskets and vitamin supplements.

Patton also provided updates on several other welfare programs aimed at children and women. Under Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, 25 existing Anganwadi centers were upgraded to Saksham Anganwadi under the Kiphire ICDS Project. The state has also strengthened its child protection services through Mission Vatsalya, which has established five District Child Protection Units (DCPU) and ten Child Helpline Centers across districts. Under Mission Shakti, 11 Sakhi Niwas (Working Women Hostels) are operational, and District Hubs for Empowerment of Women have been established in 16 districts.
