The District Task Force, Mokokchung, conducted the Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign 4.0 to mark World Day Against Child Labour. Held under the theme “Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults,” the campaign ran from June 12 to August 31.

The campaign sought to raise awareness about child labour and encourage communities, employers and business establishments to protect children from work, particularly hazardous and unsafe environments.

It began with poster campaigns and sensitisation programmes targeting workers, proprietors and the public. The activities highlighted the harmful effects of child labour and urged employers not to engage children in work.

The District Task Force also conducted discussions, verification and visits to establishments, including restaurants, cafés and vehicular workshops, to sensitise proprietors on child labour provisions and the importance of providing children with a safe environment for their growth and education.

The campaign emphasised that children should remain in school and be protected from exploitation, while adults should have access to safe and decent employment opportunities.

The District Task Force called on business owners, workers and the public to cooperate in preventing child labour and protecting children in the district.

The campaign concluded on August 31.
