Kohima, 25 March (MTNews): The Peoples’ Democratic Alliance (PDA) today launched the election campaign for the general election to the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland which is slated to be held on 19 April. Launching the campaign at Chümoukedima district, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the government is committed to resolve the Naga political issue which is the desire of the Naga people.

He said this time all 60 MLAs with all political parties are supporting one candidate and this unity will build the platform to resolve any issue be it ENPO, Naga issue or local issue.

BJP National Spokesperson and Nagaland In-charge, Nalin Kohli, expressed confidence that the PDA candidate is set to win the election as all the political parties and the people of Nagaland are together.

He appealed to all to win the election with a historic margin. Kohli said it does not matter what political affiliations and commitment are, their goal is only to serve the people of Nagaland and ensure that there is peace, development, and prosperity.

PDA consensus candidate, Dr Chumben Murry, who is confident of winning, said if elected he will carry the voice of the legislators and the Nagas in general. Legislators from other political parties also assured to extend their full support to the PDA consensus candidate Dr Murry for the ensuing Lok Sabha election.

NPP, Conrad Sangma extend support to NDPP

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Meghalaya and national president of NPP, Conrad Sangma, called on Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio along with party leaders and party MLAs from Nagaland to extend support to the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) for the ensuing Lok Sabha election. As coalition partner of the NDA, the NPP has resolved to extend full support to Lok Sabha candidate from the State of Nagaland Dr Chumben Murry, sponsored by the NDPP.

Sangma also met with President of Naga People’s Front (NPF), Manipur Unit Awangbow Newmai today in Dimapur. In the spirit of team NDA, the National People’s Party has decided to extend support to NPF candidate for Outer Manipur Kachui Timothy Zimik.
