Mokokchung, 23 April (MTNews): The Indian National Congress candidate for the 1-Nagaland Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency, S Supongmeren Jamir, said that it is undeniable that the people of Nagaland have in an unprecedented show of purpose and unanimity voiced a strong message in favor of change. Jamir also gave his assurance that his future political course will be shaped in complete alignment with this sentiment, regardless of the verdict on 4th of June.
He said this in a press statement on Tuesday, which was his first official public communication after the polls were held on 19 April.
The Congress candidate, who is also the president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), congratulated and thanked the electorate of Nagaland for reposing their faith in the electoral process of the Nation and enthusiastically taking part in the General Elections.
He also lauded the tireless efforts of the numerous poll related government officials that helped facilitate this festival of democracy.
To my supporters and well-wishers, he said he was humbled beyond words by their many acts of kindness, and thanked them for their unwavering support in the face of very formidable odds. “Your contributions, in cash and in kind, and your constant prayers, had been the bulwark of my campaign,” he told his supporters.
Jamir also offered his gratitude to the entire rank and file of the “Congress Family” in Nagaland and beyond, including the Campaign Committees and Star Campaigners, for “steadfastly defending the progressive and secular ideals” of the Indian National Congress and for their untold sacrifices in support of his candidature.
He also expressed gratitude to all the like-minded political parties that stood by him throughout the electoral journey and enriched his campaign effort with their “more than generous partnerships.” Jamir also extended gratitude to the media fraternity for “once again rising to the occasion and delivering robust responsible journalism.”
