Pfutsero Government College (PGC) organised a one-day seminar on mental health on the theme “Supporting Young Minds: Building Hope and Resilience,” aimed at creating awareness among students about mental health, common challenges and emotional well-being.

Organised by the Mental Health Cell, Department of Sociology and Department of Education, the seminar featured Veronica Nriame, Psychiatric Social Worker, District Mental Health Programme, Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima, and ChutiSemy, Counsellor, Rengma Baptist Church, as resource persons.

Nriame highlighted mental health as an essential part of overall well-being and discussed depression, anxiety, suicide, internet addiction, substance abuse and stress. She encouraged students to adopt healthy coping mechanisms, maintain open communication, exercise, keep journals and seek professional help when necessary.

Semy discussed addiction from a biopsychosocial perspective, covering substance and behavioural addictions. He suggested setting boundaries, uninstalling addictive applications and learning to tolerate discomfort.

The seminar concluded with an interactive session and a vote of thanks by Dr Metseilhouthie Mor.
