Mon/Tuensang, 28 April (MTNews): Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of 91 new 100W FM transmitters today, Nagaland received two in the districts of Mon and Tuensang. The FM transmitters in Mon and Tuensang will operate at 102 MHz and 103 MHz, respectively.
S Phangnon Konyak, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, was the Guest of Honour in Mon. She saw it as a great honour to be a part of Mon district’s transition to a network of knowledge. She thanked the AIR on behalf of Mon District for introducing it. She further stated that it is the Prime Minister’s aim that no one is left out, particularly in such a remote place as Mon.
“In this digital world, information is a very powerful weapon that one cannot do anything without. Radio is one of the cheapest, most affordable means of communication where one can get accurate news,” she explained, adding that this is a platform where one can both contribute and learn. She urged Mon citizens to cooperate so that a proper station covering the entire district may be established in the future.
Meanwhile, while virtually inaugurating the 100W FM Transmitter Tuensang at FM Tuensang Station, Deputy Commissioner Tuensang Nokchasashi NCS stated that opening the FM Station at Tuensang would greatly benefit the people of the area, as people rely on the radio for communication, information, and news. He went on to say that the FM station would broadcast information on locally relevant programs, education, health, and social issues to the public, which might make a huge difference in people’s lives.
