The month-long celebration of Poshan Maah 2024, an initiative by the Department of Social Welfare, was launched simultaneously in Longleng and Mon districts on September 3, 2024. The events were held under the themes “Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam” in Longleng and “Suposhit Kishori Sashakt Nari” in Mon.
In Longleng, the launch took place at the CDPO office premises with Deputy Commissioner W Manpai Phom, NCS, serving as the special guest. Addressing the gathering, Phom encouraged Anganwadi workers to be diligent, transparent, and accountable in their roles. He emphasized the significance of nutrition for both mother and child and urged participants to spread awareness about environmental protection. Phom also led the Poshan Pledge. District Coordinator S. Longhong Phom provided a brief overview of Poshan Abhiyaan and Poshan Maah, while CDPO Anuo Longho chaired the program.
In Mon, Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, inaugurated the Poshan Maah celebrations at the DRDA Hall, Mon. The event focused on combating malnutrition among children, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. Verma highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing malnutrition and ensuring proper nutrition for all. He urged participants to familiarize themselves with the objectives of Poshan Maah and enhance grassroots awareness. A brief on POSHAN Abhiyaan was delivered by the CDPO (ICDS) Mon Project, with welcome remarks from Yanlem DPO (ICDS) Mon and an invocation by Rev. H. Moba, Pastor, KBCM. The program was chaired by Nokyam Khoiyem, District Coordinator, POSHAN, and included a Poshan Maah pledge.
