Kohima, 21 April (MTNews): The Power Department has informed that power generation at the Likimro Hydroelectric Project (LHEP) has been disrupted since the early hours of 20 April due to the collapse of a 66kV Double Circuit Tower of 66kV Kiphire-Likimro Transmission Line near Pungro Town, Kiphire caused by theft of the tower members.

The Executive Engineer of the Transmission Division stated that the said 66kV Kiphire-Likimro Transmission Line is a vital transmission line for evacuation of Likimro HEP and an essential part of the State power transmission Grid.

The EE said that the department is making all efforts to restore the collapsed tower. It further appealed to all not to indulge in theft of tower parts and urged the concerned authorities to take appropriate actions to apprehend the culprits.
