Mangkolemba, July 14 (MTNews): Mangkolemba town has been reeling under darkness since the past three days now with no power supply and it is reported that there is no “technical staff” to resolve the problem. According to I Tia Jamir, president of Mangkolemba Ao Lanur Telongjem (MALT), power outages and subsequent woes in the town are “nothing unusual” but this time, the town is reeling under darkness for the past three days now and the power supply is not yet restored.

“Power cuts for a few hours are manageable, but when it lasts for days and weeks, it is completely outrageous, especially under the sweltering summer heat,” he rued. “From homes to schools and shops and offices, people from all walks of life are enduring the woes of these unforgiving power cuts,” he added. He said that there are power cuts whenever there is rain and often the supply is not restored on time. “Come monsoon, the woes only get worse,” he said.

The MALT president said that the power infrastructure in the town is worn and needs a major overhaul. He also told this newspaper that, on contacting the resident SDO (Power) to restore the supply as well as to rectify and improve the power infrastructure of the town, it was learnt that there are technical issues in the power station and that these could only be resolved through technical support staff, and currently, there are none in the station.

In this regard, MALT has appealed to the concerned authority to look into the matter, send required manpower and resolve the same without delay.
