A 32-year old pregnant woman of Alempang Ward, Mokokchung was arrested by Mokokchung Police on allegation of physically assaulting an 11-year old boy on April 27.
According to a Police report, an FIR was filed by a coordinator of Childline Mokokchung District, regarding “one juvenile boy” of about 11 years being physically assaulted by one Mrs. Rongpangwatila of Alempang ward, Mokokchung Town. Childline team of Mokokchung rescued the boy, the police report said.
According to Childline Mokokchung, “the helpline received a call on 27 April 2022 at around 8:00 pm from the mother of the child. Upon which, the Childline (1098) responded and met the child in person and lodged an FIR on the same day with the consent of Child Welfare Committee (CWC).”
Medical investigation of the child was done by CWC, Childline (1098) and police department. The child is presently undergoing medical treatment, Childline (1098) said.
A case has been registered against the accused. However, the accused was released from Police custody on bail bond due to her advanced pregnancy stage.
