The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, conferred the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri Awards for 2025 during the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 27. The event was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other dignitaries.

Among the awardees was L Hangthing, a progressive farmer from Nagaland, who received the Padma Shri in the field of Agriculture. He is credited with establishing the first plantation nursery in Noklak district, which later evolved into the Jungyam Nursery & Horticulture Farming Society. His nursery played a pioneering role in introducing a variety of non-native fruits, vegetables, and plants to the region.

In total, 139 individuals were selected for the Padma Awards this year, announced on the eve of the 76th Republic Day, January 25. Of these, 68 were honoured during the May 27 ceremony, while 71 received their awards earlier on April 28 during the first investiture ceremony.
