Proper V from Chumoukedima District emerged as the champions of the 1st Open Penalty Shootout Tournament organized by Impact Club played at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on Saturday.

The Chumou team defeated Tribal United 4-3 in the final shootout to take the title. The champion team was awarded with Rs 60000 which is one of the highest prize money for a Penalty Shootout Tournament that has been organized in the state while runners-up Tribal United were awarded Rs 30000.
With a total of 40 teams from different districts participating in the tournament vying for the coveted title, Tribal United defeated United Brothers by 4-3 in the first semifinal match and Proper V beat Five Stars by 5-3 in the second semifinal. But it was the keeper Khoazang Konyak that made two saves in the final to help Proper V take the title.
The best goalkeeper was given to Khoazang Konyak of Proper V and received a cash prize of Rs. 5000.
The Impact Club Kohima said that the tournament was organized to encourage youngsters to participate in positive and productive events where they can also sharpen their skills and develop competitive spirit of sportsmanship.
The Club comprises a group of like-minded friends from different professions and callings, who had come together with a vision and purpose of bringing positive changes to the society and community through meaningful events and endeavours. The club informed that more tournaments will be organized in the future with the motive to bring about small changes in the society.
