A public rally was held today at Mhaikam Local Ground in Peren district, as hundreds gathered to demand justice following the alleged rape and murder of a woman earlier this month.
Organized by local civil society groups, the rally culminated in the submission of a memorandum to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jalukie. The memorandum outlined a series of demands, including a thorough and impartial investigation into the case and the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator(s) under the relevant provisions of law.
Among other demands, the memorandum called for the setting up of a special task force dedicated to handling crimes against women, and for enhanced security measures to be implemented in the region to prevent such incidents in the future.
Speakers at the rally emphasized the need for swift and transparent action by law enforcement agencies. They also urged the authorities to ensure that justice is delivered without delay, warning that failure to do so would erode public trust in the system.
The rally concluded peacefully, with participants holding placards calling for justice, dignity, and stronger protection for women.
