Hum Music Society inducts new president
The Rattle & Hum Music Society inducted Wenyitso Kapfo as its new president during a formal ceremony held at Hotel Vivor, Kohima, on June 12.
In his presidential speech, Wenyitso Kapfo acknowledged the successful tenure of his predecessor, Neingulie Nakhro, and particularly appreciated his tenacity and meticulous documentation of the society’s activities. He also recalled how the society was formed as a “crazy dream” under the visionary leadership of Theja Meru.
The handing-over ceremony was chaired by Ruguokhrietuo Kesiezie, Vice President. Highlights of the event included opening remarks by President Emeritus Theja Meru, the President’s Report presented by outgoing president Neingulie Nakhro, and a vote of thanks delivered by Vishü Rita Krocha, Secretary (Public Relations).
Other members of the society include M. Ababe Ezung, Joint Secretary; Michelle Nakhro, Secretary (Headquarters); Dr Tolto Metha, Secretary (Administration); Dr Pelhoubeizo Kiso, Secretary (Operations); Dr Theyiesinuo Keditsu, Secretary (Culture); and Thejakielie Zuyie, Secretary (Logistics). Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland, also serves as Advisor to the society.
It may be mentioned that the Rattle & Hum Music Society was founded with the mission of educating artists across music, art, dance, theatre and literature about their crucial role in shaping culture and counter-culture.
Among its notable achievements, the society received the Governor’s Gold Medal Award in 2020 for its outstanding contributions to arts and music. It has also collaborated with institutions such as the Raj Bhavan, the ICCR and various Indian embassies worldwide, showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity.
