Moasenla Imsong, the reigning Miss Mokokchung, on Monday visited her old school, Zion Higher Secondary School in Tzudikong town where she began her schooling career and studied till her tenth standard.

Asen, who is from Wameken village, is a twenty-one year old beauty queen, currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Fazl Ali College and was crowned Miss Mokokchung 2021.
Recalling her moment of crowning, she said how it is still impossible for her to sum up her feelings for the opportunity.

“It is a beautiful experience that is changing my life. And I thank God for leading me throughout my entire journey. Along with this title comes huge responsibilities and I promise to be the best one,” she said.

Expressing her views about beauty pageants, she opines that such contests are all about displaying the best aspects of one-self.

“Winning a beauty pageant takes a lot of practice; an individual should be determined to shatter standard beauty conventions, break norms that set stereotypes. Remember, you don’t need the most expensive outfits to win, all you need is a great personality. Being a student myself, we should pursue our passion. If you find that, time flies when you are truly engrossed in a good book or interesting problem to solve,” she said.

On her visit to her old school, Asen thanked her teachers who taught her to read and write and helped her in becoming who she is today. She further hailed the extracurricular activities that were held in the school that groomed her into becoming a bold and confident woman.

“This school was my second home and all of my teachers were my second parents. At times I did make mistakes but my teachers always believed in me, inspired me to give my best and helped me become a better version of myself. I am truly grateful to all my teachers including the non-teaching staff for nurturing me and grooming me from a very young age,” Moasen shared.

In response to a question about how she would like to advise the future beauty queens, she encouraged them to celebrate all wins whether big or small and embrace the journey.

“If you want to live the unique life you want, then spend eighty percent of your time focusing on the opportunities of tomorrow rather than the problems of yesterday. Victory is right around the corner so work hard and dream big,” she concluded.
