Kohima, 23 May (MTNews): A review meeting of the Program and Activities under the National Health Mission, Nagaland, was held on 23 May 2024 at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima. The meeting was attended by the Honorable Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, P Paiwang Konyak, and V Kezo, Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland.
Sharing his remarks, P Paiwang Konyak said that such meetings provide an opportunity for programs to express problems and concerns, facilitating collective solutions. He highlighted the financial challenges faced by most programs and stressed the importance of allocating finances according to program needs and priorities. He urged for timely sharing of activity updates from Program Officers to ensure successful implementation of health programs in the state.
V Kezo also emphasized the need to remain focused and reiterated the importance of the department in addressing key issues to the concerned authorities. He stressed the importance of departmental unity, discussion of issues, concerted efforts, and having a clear vision and goal. Additionally, he mentioned that healthcare management will now adhere to the Indian Public Health Standard Norms (IPHS).
The Principal Director, Dr E Motsuthung Patton, commended the achievements of all programs and appealed to Program Officers to meet targets and improve indicators to ensure full funding from the Government of India.
Dr Akuo Sorhie, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Nagaland, provided an overview of the Mission, and the meeting was chaired by Dr Mereninla Senlem, State Program Officer, NHM. Presentations were made by all National Health Programs regarding their achievements, strategies, and challenges, followed by discussions.
