The monthly Wokha District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on 20 August at the Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Wokha. The meeting was chaired by MLA and Chairman of the DPDB, Wokha, YM Humtsoe. The chairman welcomed the new Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar (IAS). In his address, the new Deputy Commissioner appealed to all Heads of Offices in the district to extend support and cooperation in working for the betterment of the district.
Reviewing the minutes from the last meeting regarding the maintenance and repair of the Wokha-Merapani road, which is supposed to be undertaken by NIHDCL, Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the DPDB, Vineet Kumar, informed the board that he will personally take up the matter with the concerned company to ensure early execution of the work and that maintenance is carried out promptly.
The board deliberated and approved the recommendation for the reorganization of administrative jurisdiction, proposing the shifting of the following three villages: HANKU, YANKELI, and N LONGCHUM, from Wozhuro EAC (Headquarters) to SDO (C) Ralan.
Regarding the status of Wokha district headquarters roads, the Junior Engineer (JE) of Urban Development informed the board that the proposal and DPR have already been submitted to higher authorities and are awaiting sanction for the maintenance and construction of district roads. The Deputy Commissioner reminded all Heads of Offices and staff to remain in their place of posting and serve the people of the district. He further requested board members to submit agendas in advance to facilitate fruitful discussions. The DC also requested the Departments of Agriculture and Horticulture to prepare a PowerPoint presentation for the next DPDB meeting.
The DC requested all Heads of Offices to extend assistance for the upcoming State Level Badminton Tournament, scheduled to be held in October 2024 in Wokha.
The proposal submitted by the District Sports Officer, Wokha, for the construction of sports infrastructure, including a rostrum, gallery, retaining wall, drainage, earthwork extension, boundary wall, and multi-purpose hall at the department site located in Niropen, Wokha town, was assured by the chairman to be taken up with the government for consideration.
ADC Wokha, Renbomo Ezung, thanked all Heads of Offices in the district for their support in the successful conduct of the Independence Day celebration. He also informed the board about the government notification on the complete ban of the sale and use of single-use plastic items throughout Wokha district.
