As part of the Government of India’s nationwide employment drive, the 16th Rozgar Mela was held at Town Hall, Dimapur, on Saturday, where newly recruited candidates across various Central Government departments received their appointment letters. The event was marked by a ceremonial function and a live address from the Prime Minister.
Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, attended the Dimapur event as the Chief Guest and handed over appointment letters to over 30 successful candidates. The remaining letters were distributed by senior officials of participating departments including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Lumding, and representatives from the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Posts, Department of Financial Services, and others.
Addressing the appointees, Rijiju congratulated the youth on receiving appointment letters personally signed by the Prime Minister and urged them to approach government service not just as employment but as a national duty.
“This is not just a job, it is a responsibility to serve the nation,” he said. “Each of us must think beyond personal achievement and focus on national service. India can truly develop only when every citizen contributes collectively.”
Rijiju also emphasized the importance of peace in the northeastern region, stating that lasting development is only possible through stability. “The prosperity of the Northeast is integral to the nation’s overall growth,” he said, adding that India’s growing global stature depends on unity and shared commitment.
“India is becoming a global power, and this journey will only accelerate if we remain united in purpose and dedicated to our duties,” he added.
The event began with reporting and verification of appointees, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Welcome addresses were delivered by the DRM of Lumding and the Chief Guest. A live webcast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address was then streamed, where he officially launched the Rozgar Mela by remotely pressing a button to symbolically distribute appointment letters to recruits across India.
The PM’s address was preceded by a short film and welcome remarks by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. In his speech, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to employment generation and youth empowerment, calling the Rozgar Mela a crucial step toward building a stronger, self-reliant India.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Senior District Personnel Officer (Sr DPO) from Lumding.
The Rozgar Mela is a flagship initiative under the Government of India’s mission to provide meaningful employment opportunities to the youth. More than 10 lakh appointment letters have been issued so far across the country through these Melas.
This 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela was conducted simultaneously at 47 locations across India, with recruitment taking place across multiple Central Government ministries and departments.
The selected candidates will join various services under the Ministries of Railways, Home Affairs, Labour & Employment, Health & Family Welfare, and more.
