“How is it that the state government can comfortably build a Chief Minister Residential Complex in Hollywood style – at 10 times the actual cost – but cannot release the few Crores of scholarship money – money given by the Central government?”- RPP
May 2, Mokokchung (MTNews): In response to the ANCU’s ultimatum served to the state government on Monday for the disbursal of scholarship for the year 2022, the RPP made a scathing attack against the UDA coalition government in a press release saying that it is “unacceptable” to humiliate and harass the student community year after year over the scholarship issue.
“Scholarship money released by the central government does not belong to the Higher Education Department or the UDA government. This money is meant for the students,” the statement read. The party then asked why the funds that rightfully belonged to the students were released by the department only after a reminder from the student community.
The RPP also accused the UDA coalition of “falling so low” and called their actions “theft” as they lashed at the irony of how the state government can comfortably build a Chief Minister residential complex in Hollywood style- at ten times the actual cost – but cannot release the few crores of scholarship money given by the Central government.
The release further went on to question how the finance department was able to release Rs. 30 Cr as ‘Additional Funds’ for a ghost road project in Phek district but was unable to release the few Crores meant for genuine student beneficiaries.
In the same press release, the RPP accused the UDA coalition of becoming “adept in lies” and accused the politicians and department officials for doing sleepless rounds in trying to convince the landowners that the Group D appointments have been banned by the high Court till date because of the PIL filed by RPP.
“According to the High Court order issued on 10th November 2021, the High Court issued an order categorically allowing the state to conduct recruitment in Group D posts,” the RPP’s statement read.
The RPP submitted the court order along with the press release and conveyed to the landowners that there is no ban on appointment to Group D posts in the state.
“If any department is refusing landowners their right to employment, such departments would be answerable to the Court. It is also the responsibility of the learned Additional AG representing the government in the case to put a stop to this political propaganda against the RPP,” the press release concluded.
