Mokokchung, October 8 (MTNews): Calling it the “State’s dirtiest department,” the Rising People’s Party (RPP) has said that the education department needs to be totally overhauled.

The RPP in a press release on Saturday listed a number of reforms it would take in the education sector as well as in the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) and the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) “once the party comes to power.”

The party also said they will set up a Teachers’ Selection Board (TSB) for higher secondary levels which at present do not fall under NPSC or NSSB.

“After the written stage is over, there will be an arduous interview stage where the interviewers will be a set of empanelled university professors. The interviewers’ position is not permanent but on rotation basis and for a fixed period,” the party said.

The party also mentioned that they will identify and take action against all ghost and proxy teachers and added that communitisation of teaching/SMCs will be discontinued. “SMCs have become dens of corruption,” it alleged.

The party also said that the teachers’ service rules will be suitably amended and shall make litigations a thing of the past.

It also added that they will introduce a ceiling on admission/monthly fees for all the private schools and colleges in the state and do away with the post of Principal Director in the DoSE and make HoD the Director.

Further, it added that the post of Yoga Teacher in all government schools introduced by the NDPP-BJP Coalition will be abolished and factors that are responsible for “alien cultural imprints will be stamped out” and instead, Naga history/NE personalities will be adequately reflected in the NBSE curriculum.

The party also added that there will be skill based “diversification of curriculum” as per the aptitude of the student from class 8 onwards as per the recommendation of Mudaliar Commission.

With regard to the NPSC, RPP said that, in order to minimize manipulations in the interview stage, the present interview marks in NCS exam will be slashed from 55 to 25 and shall do the same with other exams.

“A law will be enacted whereby all the vacant posts in the departments will be compulsorily requisitioned to the NPSC/NSSB. The present system of NPSC/NSSB having no tooth to requisition posts will be a thing of the past,” the party continued.

The party also said that all MCQ answer keys (prelims and mains) for both Civil and Technical exams will be declared within 15 days after examination while domain experts will be inducted as board members of the NPSC.
“There shall be no room for failed politicians or party workers in the board,” it said, and added that a fixed annual calendar for conduct of exams will be made compulsory for NPSC.

Regarding reforms in NSSB, the party said that there will be no interview in the NSSB.
